The girls have been baking again 🙂
I’ve been squeezing in a spot of knitting:
I’ve picked up my Louisa Cape project again from Rowan Studio 30 ~ so cute!
There has been barbie crochet & a fashion shoot :
Walks with the dogs in the sunshine:
And rope swing fun!
And freshly laid eggs from happy hens :
Our little cockerel was quite poorly last week but thanks to some major TLC and great tips from Little Poppits he has made a miraculous recovery 🙂
I also managed to squeeze in a little trip to my LYS to admire the Rowan Fine Art Yarn (loving Kingfisher & Waxwing : on my wish list!) and drooled over the new pattern book ‘Spirit’ from Kim Hargreaves for Rowan.
We picked up some fab Stylecraft DK to make an end of year present for my daughters teacher (I have Lucy to thank from Attic 24 for introducing me to this great inexpensive yarn).
Here’s our sweet dog having fun in the woods:
It was great to make the most of the bluebells, then home for fresh apple cake ~ the recipe is from Jane Brocket’s Vintage Cakes book ~ it was so easy to make & can surely be classed as healthy because of the fruit (and spelt flour that I substituted!)
It’s a long holiday weekend here in the UK and its been so lovely to have some sunshine. What have you been doing this weekend? I hope you’ve had a great time too!
Hardly a cloud in the sky…..
Lucky teacher!! Your daughters cakes look divine, she clearly has your creativeness in her….where did you find such dainty flower decorations and toppings? My daughter lives making fairy cakes and would love some of these! I’m itching to see what your cape is going to look like. The yarn is a beautiful colour. Pretty much the same here is sunny Sussex…walking on the Downs with the dog, ice cream on the beach, time in the garden….and I am currently sitting in the sun….crocheting!!! well, someone has to! Have a great rest of the weekend x
Thanks, Kate 🙂 I bought quite a few cupcake decorations back in January for the girls birthdays. I think the little pink flowers may have been from Squires Kitchen :http://www.squires-shop.com/uk although I pick up lots of odds and ends from quite a few places. Sprinkles Shop has a really lovely selection : http://www.sprinklesshop.co.uk/
Enjoy the rest of your weekend xx
Oh your beautiful furry friend sitting amongst the bluebells is so very sweet, and your little chooks are gorgeous too – lot of happy times and I wish you many more! Joy x
Thanks Joy! It’s a lovely time of the year with all of the Spring flowers, we’re gradually spending more time outside and making the most of any sunshine (but still making lots of time to bake!) xx
Haven’t checked out Jane’s fresh apple cake but I absolutely love that cook book. Great photos Claire.
Thanks Cindi 🙂 It’s a great book – we’re slowly working our way through the recipes! I like Jane’s other books too on knitting & quilting.
What a busy time you have had. It has been so lovely to be able to get out and about in the countryside. (and to fit in a trip to your lys!)
yummmmmm Apple cake!
Lovely pictures as usual. Especially on the swing and your collie in the bluebells. Glad your cockerel is feeling better.x
Oh how I miss the sunshine here in Oz! Actually, I shouldn’t complain, its about 18’C which isn’t too shabby and we have had glorious weather this autumn so far. I do love looking at all of your knitting and crocheting projects. It looks like a beautiful part of the UK where you live. I just have the buttons left to sew on my baby cardi which I have been knitting furiously for my sisters bub to be. Thanks for the inspiration and keep it up. Erin xx
